CANrange

The CANrange™ is a CAN-enabled distance sensor that’s designed to give robotics teams and automation professionals accurate and dependable proximity data without the headaches of traditional optical sensors. Measuring from 1 cm out to 300 cm with 1 mm resolution, it lets you configure custom distance triggers in software- effectively replacing fixed break-beam sensors and physical limit switches with a single device.

Housed in a durable, fully enclosed casing, the CANrange hooks directly into the CTR Electronics ecosystem with full Phoenix 6 API support for fast setup, live telemetry, and direct closed-loop control.

• 1 cm to 300 cm Range with 1 mm Resolution: Gives you tight, consistent spatial tracking whether you're managing game pieces in an intake, indexing mechanisms, or monitoring mechanism position.
• Three Measurement Modes: Switch between Short Range, Long Range, and a 100 Hz Short Range mode (with standard mode sampling configurable up to 50 Hz) to match your team’s control loop speeds.
• Software-Defined Proximity: Set custom trigger points in code to mimic a traditional photo-eye or limit switch- no re-drilling brackets or physically realigning sensors when your design changes.
• Phoenix 6 Native Support: Plugs right into your CAN network with full Phoenix 6 and Phoenix Pro compatibility for clean diagnostics, live data plotting, and direct feedback control.
• Pre-Calibrated & Tough: Ships calibrated and ready to mount. The sealed housing protects internal optics from field dust and debris, while built-in protection handles reverse wiring and ESD spikes up to 30 kV.
• Eye-Safe Laser: Uses a Class 1 laser light source meeting IEC 60825-1:2014 standards, keeping it completely safe for pit crew members and operators.
