Hardware Update

In order to keep providing Pigeon 2.0 we've made an update to the hardware used in the sensor.

Pigeon 2.0s with this new hardware have been designated "vS" or "version S", which you'll see reflected in the "Hardware" designation in Phoenix Tuner.

Performance and interface of the Pigeon 2.0 are entirely unaffected, so after flashing firmware (details below) there is no noticeable difference between the original and vS Pigeon 2.0.

Firmware Variant

The change in hardware does require a different version of firmware.

This firmware is labelled as "vS" to distinguish it from the standard version of firmware. Moving forward, both firmware variants will be released any time there is an update to Pigeon 2 firmware.

Example firmware names:

- Pigeon 2.0: "Pigeon2-Application-23.10.6.0-Phoenix6-season2023.crf"

- Pigeon 2.0 vS: "Pigeon2-vS-Application-23.10.6.0-Phoenix6-season2023.crf"

We recommend using Tuner X, which will automatically download and present latest CRFs for our supported devices.

Phoenix Release

In order to field-upgrade Pigeon 2.0 vS, users must update to latest Phoenix Releases:

Phoenix 6: 23.2.1

Phoenix 5: 5.31.0+23.2.1

Older versions of Phoenix will report a CRF error when attempting to field-upgrade Pigeon 2.0 vS.
